Will NCIS: LA Season 14 happen at CBS?
Eyes are on the futures of our favorite TV crime dramas. Of course, NCIS: LA is on the list. Will NCIS: LA Season 14 happen at CBS?
As we finish up the year, it won’t be long before the networks make decisions about shows still with open fates. We’ll start hearing about some renewals in January if previous years are anything to judge.
CBS usually takes a bit longer to make decisions. We can get some early renewals around February and March, but some shows aren’t determined until April and May of the season. We saw a late renewal come in for NCIS: LA Season 13, and there’s a chance that will happen again.
Will NCIS: LA Season 14 happen at CBS?
The big question right now is whether CBS will cancel or renew NCIS: LA for Season 14. We don’t have the definitive answer just yet, but we can look at the live TV ratings to get an idea of the way the network will go.
The live TV ratings aren’t the only metrics used to make decisions. However, they are one of the biggest metrics. If there aren’t the live viewers, the networks can’t charge the high amounts for advertising space, which means less money for the company. So, the shows need to perform well on the network to stay on the air.
According to TV Series Finale, there doesn’t seem to be a reason for CBS to cancel NCIS: LA. The show sits in eighth place out of 19 shows in the demo. If we take SEAL Team out now that it’s moved to Paramount+ exclusively, it’s still sitting in eighth place out of 18 scripts shows. It’s in ninth place when it comes to the average audience.
This looks good for the network. Plus, the show continues to hold up against other shows that air on a Sunday night, remaining relatively consistent even during a time of football.
This all depends on stars Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J. I get the feeling that if the two decide not to renew their contracts for another year, the show will be canceled. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on that.
There were questions about whether Season 13 would happen. I did think that CBS just gave the show a chance to get to the 200th episode and may have had thoughts about canceling it after that. However, the live TV ratings remaining relatively steady may get CBS to rethink that plan if it was in place and renew the show anyway.
