Good Sam: How did Sophia Bush’s series premiere perform?
Good Sam premiered against Chicago PD last week, bringing is Sophia Bush’s new series. How did it perform in the live ratings? Is there a chance of it being renewed?
With just one episode, it is way too early to consider if Good Sam is going to be renewed or not. CBS will want to see another couple of episodes first. However, we’ll admit that things aren’t looking great.
The medical drama premiered up against Chicago PD. This was likely to try to draw in Bush’s fans from the crime drama over, but that didn’t seem to help. We all know that the Wednesday 10/9c timeslot is a difficult one for any network that isn’t NBC!
Good Sam ratings were the lowest of all CBS shows
We start wih some extremely disappointing news just for the show on CBS. Good Sam held the lowest live ratings across the board on the network. It’s not often that a pilot will perform worse than shows that have been on the air for a few years, but that was the case here.
The total audience for the night was just 2.7 million viewers. The demo rating was a low 0.31. This is behind Bull, SEAL Team‘s four episodes that aired on CBS, and even CSI: Vegas, which we were worried about.
When up against NBC, CBS will likely want to switch the timeslot or will make a disappointing decision for the series. Chicago PD remains NBC’s fourth-best series in terms of live ratings. Last Wednesday, the winter premiere pulled in 6.06 million viewers and a 0.73 demo rating.
So far, the reviews have been on the positive side. However, this is a series that could end up becoming repetitive. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes over the next few episodes.
