Simone Clark is fresh out of the Academy and looking for her permanent gig. Don’t miss a beat of The Rookie: Feds series premiere on ABC tonight.

We’ve already met Simone and some of the other characters in The Rookie: FedsThe Rookie Season 4 brought us a two-episode backdoor pilot, that did not fail to impress. Now it’s time to see what Niecy Nash-Betts brings to the series on her own.

Simone is out of the FBI Academy, and it’s time for her to shine. She needs to prove her worth immediately, similarly to the way John Nolan needed to in the OG series. She’s the oldest recruit from the Academy, and there are a lot of people looking down on her.

What to expect in The Rookie: Feds series premiere

Simone wants to join Matthew Garza’s newly formed special unit. This would mean working with Carter Hope, Laura Stenson, and Brendon Acres. Simone and Brendon already know each other as they were at the Academy together. It also turns out that Brendon used to be an actor, and it’s possible that he’ll face a similar welcome to Simone because of that.

Garza wants low-key agents, and we know that Simone is anything but that. However, she makes it clear that she will prove her worth, and it all comes down to an investigation into the murder of a federal engineer. Of course, she’s going to use her contacts where she can. She’ll text John Nolan to help on the case, which isn’t something the others really want.

However, this episode sets the tones for crossover events. With everything being set in LA, it’s possible for Nolan and some of the other Rookie characters to pop up now and then—and we could see some Feds characters in the OG series now and then.
