Is Blue Bloods renewed for Season 14? (Is Blue Bloods canceled?)
CBS has made a decision about the future of Blue Bloods. Will there be more Reagan family dinners to look forward to?
Since 2010, Blue Bloods has been a mainstay for Friday night viewers on CBS. Fans have loved watching the adventures of the Reagans, a multi-generation family of cops led by Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck).
While the series has been the highest-rated network show on Friday nights, there were questions if it could earn another season. The large cast of Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moyhahan, Will Estes, and others means a sizable budget for the show. There’s also been the production costs in New York City and the ratings seeing a bit of faltering this year.
Is Blue Bloods Season 14 happening?
With NCIS: Los Angeles facing its end, Blue Bloods is second only to NCIS as the longest-running show on CBS. Thankfully for fans, that record will continue for another year. Blue Bloods Season 14 is officially happening.
“Blue Bloods has dominated Friday nights since its premiere and remained an important anchor for CBS’ winning lineup,” said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment. “Led by the outstanding Tom Selleck, and an incredible cast and creative team, viewers continue to embrace the Reagan’s, their law enforcement family, and the series’ dramatic storytelling. We can’t wait to pull a chair up to the Reagan family dinner table for another fantastic season.”
What are the conditions of Blue Bloods’ renewal?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a major condition of Blue Bloods getting a renewal is that the cast and producers have agreed to a 25% pay cut. That may seem a lot, but the alternative likely would have been cutting several cast members completely.
It’s likely the cast doesn’t mind this at all. The official Blue Bloods Twitter feed shared the news with “The Regan family traditions continue!” While the actors have yet to share their feelings, they’re not double pleased as fans that Blue Bloods will continue for another year on CBS.
