CSI: Vegas preview: A fan favorite character returns in a new mystery
CSI: Vegas is finally back after a few weeks off with an episode that brings back a familiar face to the franchise.
Like many CBS shows, CSI: Vegas took a break in March due to the CBS coverage of the NCAA Basketball tournament. It left off with a big episode that finally solved the case of the mystery killer plaguing the team all season.
The team zeroed in on the killer, Ronald Winter, after he poisoned Sonya. The man was trying to “save” the world by killing off the mentally ill and dangerous, and his ultimate goal was to poison an entire psychiatric hospital. He actually thought the team would appreciate what he was doing but ended up being arrested.
With that plotline finally wrapped up, the show now moves to a new plot that features the return of an old face to the CSI franchise.

“The Promise” notes the recent droughts hitting Nevada, which have caused lakebeds to dry up. That’s exposed a score of long-lost bodies. Thus, the plotline has the team finding the remains of a girl missing for decades and trying to find justice for her.
Much bigger is the return of original CSI tech Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) to the lab. The man has been busy with other labs but returning to aid in this case even as he’s dealing with some personal issues.
This should be a good story featuring Greg and an emotional storyline of the search for justice that makes CSI: Vegas’ return worthwhile for viewers.
"“When the body of a young girl who was killed over 40 years ago is discovered at the bottom of Lake Mead, Max Roby promises her mother, Raquel Williams, that the CSI team will finally find justice for her daughter in a powerful episode co-written by “CSI” franchise creator Anthony E. Zuiker. Also, Greg Sanders brings his quirky humor as he returns to the crime lab.”"
