Will Trent is taking one more week off but is set to be back with a great new episode to kick off the final run of Season 1.
The ABC series has been a slow but steady success for the network with Ramon Rodriguez in the title role of a brilliant, if eccentric, investigator for the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. Hiding how he has dyslexia, Trent uses his skills to solve crimes while wrestling with his on/off relationship with longtime friend and Atlanta cop Angie (Erika Christensen).
With a good fan base, some may be annoyed the show has been taking a couple of weeks off. However, it’s for a good reason, as ABC wants to hold off on the last three episodes of the season and let them run in sequence without reruns until the Season 1 finale on May 2.
Thus, this Tuesday has Episode 9, “Manhunt,” followed by Episode 10, “Pterodactyls Can Fly.” That allows viewers to catch up on the show before it returns on April 18.
What’s coming when Will Trent returns?
“Bill Black” has Will going undercover in a drug gang to find a missing DEA agent. It’s an intriguing idea, as with his quirky characteristics, seeing Will pretending to be someone else could offer another look at how he operates.
The subplot looks to focus on Angie, who’s convinced the foster stepfather who raped her as a teenager is going to do the same thing to his new stepdaughter. That included threatening to kill the guy herself.
So while fans may be miffed at this delay, Will Trent will make up for it when it returns next week.
"“Will goes undercover as Bill Black, a criminal with a troubled past, to take down a drug organization and find a missing DEA agent; Angie aims to put her relationship with Will behind her.”"
