The Company You Keep is taking a week off but will be back fast with the last two episodes of its first season and the hopes for more to come.

The ABC series about con artist Charlie (Milo Ventimiglia) and CIA agent Emma (Catherine Haena Kim) carrying on a romance has boosted itself into a sharp crime drama. It’s amped up since Emma finally discovered Charlie was working for crime boss Daphne and recruiting him and his family as CIA operatives.

The show continues to balance plotlines such as Emma’s brother running for Senate and learning his new campaign advisor just happens to be his father’s former mistress. There’s also Daphne trying to prove herself to her father, crime boss Maguire.

The show has done well on Sunday nights, although there is a question if it can get a second season. This Sunday, April 23 will be a special three-hour version of American Idol.

When does The Company You Keep return with new episodes?

The Company You Keep will return for its penultimate episode on Sunday, April 30, with a big-name guest star.

When the series returns, it will have a major guest star in Emmy-award winner Tony Shalhoub (Monk, The Marvelous Mrs. Masiel) as Fran’s former lover. While he and Leo seem on good terms, the question is why he’s showing up.

Meanwhile, with Maguire now free, Emma and Charlie are ramping up their efforts to take him down while continuing to fight their obvious feelings for each other.

While fans of The Company You Keep are still hopeful for another season, it looks like it will be ending Season 1 in a dramatic way.
