Alert: Missing Person Unit Season 2 is not coming to FOX in May 2023
We have a lot of questions after the first season of Alert. The biggest question is when Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 will even premiere.
We start off this post with some (unsurprising) bad news. Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 is not going to premiere this month. It’s nowhere on the list of arrivals on FOX in May.
This is a series that is going to be on a break for at least the summer. FOX isn’t going to bring its biggest shows back just yet. The summer months are when the live ratings take a hit as people spend more time outside or head out on vacation.
When will Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 premiere on FOX?
It’s hard to say what FOX is going to do with this series. The good news is that we will at least get a second season. With the way of the writing, it was possible to bring the story to an end with just the first season. There was an element of closure for the family as they learned Keith wasn’t Keith after all, and Jason and Nikki’s son was likely killed in the lake as Sidney said.
The first season was a midseason show. With a 10-episode storyline, that wasn’t too surprising. Fall shows tend to get 22 episodes, although that did change this year with a lot of fall shows only getting 13 episodes.
It’s not clear if FOX is going to move this show to the fall for 2023. We’ll have to wait for the May Upfronts to find out. It is possible that there will be a shift this year due to the potential writer’s strike (not confirmed at the time of writing this). With the earlier renewal, writing work could already begin on Alert Season 2, which means filming can happen in the summer. This could allow a fall release unlike some other shows that will be halted due to the strike if it happens.
Alert: Missing Persons Unit is available to stream on Hulu.
