Is a new episode of The Company You Can Keep on tonight? (May 14, 2023)
The Company You Keep has been a steady show on ABC Sundays this spring. So is there a new episode this week, or has the show had its season (and possibly series) finale?

There isn’t an episode of The Company You Keep on tonight, Sunday, May 14. The series has wrapped up its first season.
The Season 1 finale of The Company You Keep had Emma outraged when her brother David was nearly killed in a car bomb meant for her. That had her, Charlie, and Daphne working together to take the Maguires down once and for all. Daphne’s CIA partner Mason finally found out about all this and secretly aided Daphne.
Daphne and Connor got into a gunfight, with a wounded Connor escaping. Meanwhile, Charlie pulled off a brilliant scam to trick Maguire into implicating himself with a pack of guns and millions of dollars in cryptocurrency. The FBI arrived, and Maguire got into a gunfight with them before a sniper shot him dead.
During all this, Leo and Fran had planned to sell the bar to old friend Frankie (Tony Shalhoub). But then they found out Frankei’s investors planned to raze the entire neighborhood for fancy high rises. So the family took advantage of Charlie’s takedown of Maguire to scare the investors away from this “dangerous” neighborhood, telling off Frankie for using them like this.
The near-death caused David to win the election and declared he would only serve one term to truly help people. Meanwhile, an injured Jen got a mysterious phone call from her mother indicating she had her own agenda. Emma and Charlie briefly reunited as she offered him a job with the CIA. Charlie said they were just too different, even if they loved each other.
When her boss was angry with her actions, Emma recruited Mason and Chas to form a secret operation spying on corruption in the CIA and other agencies. They were backed by Emma palming the crypto-wallet to finance this. Meanwhile, Bridie admitted to Charlie she liked helping others with their scams, so maybe instead of the money, the family could “level the playing field” conning bigger targets.
The season ended as it began with Charlie and Emma meeting at a bar, Charlie already working on a new mark, and Emma targeting a money launderer, but clearly, the sparks are still there.
That was a good conclusion to Season 1 but is there more to come?
Is The Company You Keep Season 2 happening?
This was always planned as the Season 1 finale, so there is no new episode of The Company You Keep Sunday, May 14. Instead, ABC will air the special Superstar: Elizabeth Taylor.
So far, ABC has yet to announce its 2023-24 schedule, so it’s unclear if The Company You Keep will get a second season or not. Its ratings haven’t been great, as ABC does have several pilots in development. However, there’s always the chance the network decides to keep a sleeper show in hopes it builds in a second season.
At least the Season 1 finale didn’t contain a cliffhanger and could work as a series finale should the show be canceled, but fans can hope it continues.
