NCIS: Los Angeles may be ending, but fans are hopeful it won’t be the last they see of Sam Hanna. LL Cool J has opened up on the possibility his character may jump ship to NCIS: Hawaii.
NCIS: Los Angeles fans are still reeling from the announcement the series will end with its current 14th season. It’s a remarkable run for the show and LL Cool J, who was best known for his career as a rapper before landing the series in 2010.
Like many in the cast, LL Cool J was surprised at the announcement of the show being canceled as they had just completed a huge crossover with the main NCIS and NCIS: Hawaii. On the red carpet at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, LL Cool J talked to Entertainment Tonight about how it felt to wrap up a show that took up such a large part of his life.
"“Well, I gotta tell you it’s not hard at all. CBS did an amazing thing with us; it’s been an amazing run. We talking about 14 years. We not talking about two-and-a-half, three years and ‘Oh it was fun while it lasted.’ This was 14 years. So, I think that the show has done tremendous numbers. I mean, our last [NCIS] crossover did tremendous numbers. I couldn’t complain, I have nothing. All I could say is, ‘Wow, what a ride,’ you know what I’m saying?”"
However, there is a chance that the ride may not be truly over for LL Cool J or Sam Hanna.
Is a trip to NCIS: Hawaii in Sam Hana’s future?
During the season 2 finale of NCIS: Hawaii, LL Cool J made a surprise cameo in a moment in which he helped come to the aid of Special Agent Jane Tennant and FBI Agent Kate Whistler. The appearance was not by chance as CBS has confirmed LL Cool J will be making the jump to NCIS: Hawaii in a recurring guest star role for the show’s third season.
"“One of the most beautiful things about working onNCIS: Hawaii is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together. We have had so much fun spreading the aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the triple crossover. Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process. Welcome to the ohana, Todd! It’s going to be a fun ride!” said series star Vanessa Lachey in a statement confirming the news."
It has not yet been confirmed how many episodes LL Cool J will appear in, but giving his role is being billed as a recurring guest star there seems to be flexibility for him to appear in a number of episodes as the story permits.
