Based on a True Story premieres on Peacock this week. What is the Kaley Cuoco series about, and is it going to be worth the watch?
While broadcast networks have put their shows on their summer breaks, streaming platforms will keep us entertained. Whether you like gritty crime dramas or something with a lot of humor, there are plenty of great options to choose from.
Kaley Cuoco has an option coming to Peacock this week. It’s all about Based on a True Story, which is certainly not as the title suggests. Instead, it’s more like Truth Be Told with a more quirky and humorous side to it.
What is Truth Be Told about?
The Peacock series follows Cuoco’s Ava and her husband Nathan (played by Chris Messina). The two are expecting their first child—Cuoco was pregnant at the time of filming—but that’s not what they’re worried too much about. Instead, there’s a serial killer in their city.
Ava and her friends are obsessed with true crime podcasts and programs. They’re a great distraction to life. In Only Murders in the Building fashion, she decides to start her own true crime podcast when there’s a murder in the city. Ava sees the murder, and she’s sure she knows who the murderer is.
She needs to get this person to confess. What better way than to invite him onto her podcast and out him there?
What’s Ava’s main goal, though? It’s not to out the killer, but to get rich. You see, she and Nathan are struggling with life and debt, so they want a get rich quick scheme. This seems to be it.
What’s great about this series is that you won’t need too long for new episodes. All eight episodes of the series are dropping as a binge-watch instead of the standard weekly release.
Based on a True Story streams in full on Thursday, June 8 on Peacock.
