When NBC first saved Magnum PI, it was for two seasons of 10 episodes each. Then that changed to it being one 20-episode season split in two parts. We’re waiting for Magnum PI Season 5, Part 2, and there is a chance that we could get it sooner than we thought.
Officially, we’re waiting until 2024 for new episodes. NBC announced its fall schedule and the PI drama is nowhere in sight. However, this fall schedule includes a lot of shows that can’t start production just yet, and that means a change may be needed.
Could Magnum PI Season 5, Part 2 move to the fall?
It looks like NBC was a little unhappy with the viewership of Magnum PI‘s first half of Season 5. To be honest, the scheduling did not help it. The show dropped 30% from CBS’s final season, but NBC put it on Sundays after reruns instead of a strong lead-in. It was supposed to have The Blacklist as a lead-in with Found in the slot after, but that changed when Found was moved to the fall.
It was a bad decision on NBC’s part. And it looks like the show paid for that.
Well, things may need to change this year. The writers are on strike, so there are chances that none of the scripted shows will be ready for a September start. Magnum PI Season 5, Part 2 has already filmed. It’s ready to go, and it could step in to save the day should the normal fall shows not start filming in time.
