NCIS Season 20 ended with a major cliffhanger. We want to see how it all plays out, but when will the NCIS Season 21 premiere air on CBS?
Eyes are on when we’ll get to see our favorite crime drama series return. The Season 20 finale ended with a major cliffhanger. Will Torres get his revenge? Will he kill in cold blood? It seems out of character for him, but it also doesn’t depending on how deep this backstory is.
The bad news is that we don’t get to find out just yet. NCIS Season 21 is not on the list of shows coming back in July 2023. Of course, we wouldn’t even expect that under normal circumstances.
When will NCIS Season 21 premiere on CBS?
We wouldn’t usually expect the show until September. The summer months are the quietest in terms of linear ratings, so the networks take some time off and bring shows back in the fall.
This series is set to be a fall show. It will remain on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, leading into new episodes of spin-off series NCIS: Hawaii. That would usually mean a late September premiere date, but that’s not expected to happen at all this year. We don’t even know if we’ll get the season in 2023 at all.
The writers strike continues, and this is now going to delay production. Writers needed to be back in their rooms at the start of June for a July production start. We could see writers return soon if the studios put together a deal to negotiate on, but that remains to be confirmed just yet. We’ll need to wait for the writers to go back to work before we even start predicting when we could see the shows return.
And this is only if the actors don’t go on strike next week. There is just so much in the air right now.
NCIS is available to stream on Paramount+.
