We have a wait on our hands for Law & Order: SVU Season 25. Here’s what we know about the premiere date for the new season.
As much as we would have loved to see Law & Order: SVU Season 25 premiere this month, we knew that wasn’t going to be the case. We don’t see new episodes of our favorite crime dramas in July. Not the broadcast ones, anyway.
There is usually a lot of filming going on this time of year. We get a break—as actors took a break in May and June—and then the episodes usually start back up in September. This is important for the broadcast networks to time when people are watching TV again instead of enjoying the good weather.
When will Law & Order: SVU Season 25 premiere on NBC?
This is where we have some disappointing news. We’re not expecting to see the new season in the fall. At least, not right away in the fall. And this isn’t because of NBC’s schedule. NBC wants the show to return in the fall, but production is on hold.
The writers haven’t returned to their rooms yet due to the strike. We’re standing with the writers on this one as it is important for the industry as a whole. It just means that without scripts, production can’t start.
There is also a chance that the actors will go on strike tomorrow. This is going to further impact production, so September as a premiere month is out of the window for most scripted shows on broadcast.
Will we need to wait until 2024? That’s not clear just yet. It’s going to depend on how long the strikes go on. There is a chance, though, as this strike is set to be a long one.
Law & Order is available to stream on Peacock. Stay tuned for the latest updates about Law & Order: SVU Season 25.
