With the long hiatus, there are fears that the networks will start canceling shows. Is NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 still going to happen?
As delays go on, there is always the fear that we won’t get the shows and movies that we’ve been promised. We just have to look at the pandemic and how many projects were scrapped. Now there is the fear this will happen again.
The writers and actors are still on strike. We know not to expect a lot of scripted programming on broadcast networks until January 2024 at the earliest. However, there is a chance that the delay will be even longer. This all depends on when production can start back up—and there is a fight to make sure that only happens when there is a fair deal on the table.
Will NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 still happen?
As of right now, CBS has shown no signs in canceling shows. The original plan was to bring NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 in the fall. This is a strong performer, especially in the Monday 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot. That’s a tricky time slot to get traction in. If CBS was going to cancel a show, it doesn’t seem likely that this will be one of them.
So, when could we expect to see the new season? Well, it’s looking like the new year. We’re also looking at a much shorter season than originally intended, and this could have an effect on storylines, new characters, and much more. If the strike action can come to an end around Labor Day weekend, a 13-episode season is still possible. After that, we could see fewer episodes as the networks will want to stick to the May finales to get back to normal in the 2024–2025 season.
NCIS: Hawaii is available to stream on Paramount+.
