Is Walker canceled? (Will Walker Season 4 happen?)
As the delays continue, all eyes are on whether networks will start canceling renewed shows. Is Walker Season 4 still happening at The CW?
It took some time, but The CW eventually renewed Walker. It did make sense. While the series doesn’t perform as well as the likes of shows on other networks, it is one of the stronger shows on The CW.
However, we have a long wait for the fourth season. The strike action in the industry is still going, and that’s putting everything on hold. Will it lead to cancellations? Amazon has already “unrenewed” The Peripheral and A League of Their Own, and we could see other networks following the example.
Walker Season 4 is still likely to happen
The good news is we shouldn’t see our favorite Western canceled. This series was already planned for the midseason by The CW when the WGA strike was announced. Season 4 is set to be a 13-episode season, so a midseason start makes sense.
Now all the scripted content is moving to the midseason for the most part. It’s not going to make much difference to The CW as CBS, ABC, and other networks are forced to push a lot of shows back. Plus, the Jared Padalecki series is still one of the top performers on the network and Nexstar won’t want to get rid of everything in its acquisition.
It’s if the strikes go on longer than Labor Day weekend that we may want to keep an eye on things, though. After this, the 13-episode seasons may not be possible. The CW won’t want to run shows into the summer again after just getting everything back on track, so we could see this season cut from 13 episodes to around 10. It all depends on the current negotiations at this point.
Walker is available to stream on Max.
