NCIS is in a bit of a waiting pattern for Season 21, as fans are excited to see what’s coming for the characters. That includes team leader Alden Parker, so what can be in store for Gary Cole’s tough agent in the new season?

Season 20 kicked off on a wild note for Parker as he was framed for murder and went on the run with his ex-wife, Vivian (Teri Polo). Thankfully, with the aid of the team and the NCIS: Hawaii unit, Parker proved his innocence. He was soon leading the team in their usual array of wild cases.

That included Parker having his identity stolen and meeting an old flame on the case. Another case had Parker reuniting with his father, the pair still had a rough relationship but got over it as the senior Parker moved to a living facility. Parker even got his own romance with a sexy senator.

The most powerful episode had Parker stunning the team by acting angry tracking down a shipment of drugs linked to a past case. It appeared Parker was upset because his old partner had been shot in the back and paralyzed by the crooks. It turned out it was Parker himself who accidentally shot the man and the case helped him finally work out his guilt over it.

So, with so much on Parker in Season 20, what can the next season bring for him?

What can happen to Parker in NCIS Season 21?

Season 20 gave some fantastic insight into Parker’s past and what makes him tick. Thus, Season 21 can show him moving forward, which might include a reunion with Senator Constance Miller (Brigid Branagh) as the two got along well. However, Constance also suggested Parker might still carry a torch for Vivian, which might mean a return of Teri Polo.

Either way, between his romantic life, his issues with his dad and that guilt over his partner, Parker may need a bit of a break while still showing his drive with the team. Fans have come around to Parker as a replacement for Gibbs and a compelling character and Season 21 can show more of Parker taking advantage of NCIS for a fresher start to his own life and still be a top agent for the team.
