5 TV crime shows to watch this week (September 18-24, 2023)
Normally, this week is when this feature would fade, thanks to the arrival of new seasons on network TV. Sadly, thanks to the ongoing strikes across Hollywood, that’s not happening. Thankfully, there are still a few things to check out on streaming and other channels to fill the hole for fans of TV crime shows.
This week’s offerings include a new British crime show, an exciting Prime Video series, a continuation of a hit movie franchise, a true-crime saga, and a unique Hallmark mystery. There really is something for everyone.
Here are five programs to check out for the week of Sept. 18-24 and show you can still enjoy TV without network fare.

Mrs. Sidhu Investigates
Acorn TV’s latest addition to their library of amateur sleuths stars Meera Syla in the title role of a caterer whose niece becomes the prime suspect in a double murder. Determined to clear her name, Mrs. Sidhu starts her own investigation, encountering DCI Burton (Craig Parkinson) along the way.
In classic Acorn TV style, Sidhu is soon on the scene for other murders, she and Burton form a fun partnership as they handle murders at a fan convention, a tech company and a boxing match. Along the way, Sidhu also has her kids helping out in what looks like another fun British comedy mystery show.
Mrs. Sidhu Investigates premieres on Monday, Sept. 18 on Acorn TV.
Wilderness
This newly released series has a twisted take on a romantic trip. Jenna Coleman is a woman who is on a vacation across America’s National Parks with her husband. However, when she realizes her hubby is cheating on her with his co-worker (Ashley Benson), Coleman thinks this is a perfect way to arrange an “accident” for him.
Expect further twists and turns as the pair engage in a cat-and-mouse game in some beautiful settings, with a supporting cast selling a compelling six-part mystery.
Wilderness now streaming on Prime Video.
Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal
The second season of this docuseries continues the bizarre true story of Alex Murdaugh, found guilty of killing his wife and son. The first season aired just after the trial, showcasing the killings and investigation. The new season comes just as Murdaugh’s lawyers are appealing the case.
The new season talks to those who knew the Murdaughs as well as investigators, reporters, and even a couple of jurors. It shows another wild true crime story and if Murdaugh’s lawyers get their way, a third season may be in store.
Murdauh Murders: A Southern Scandal Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 20 on Netflix.
The Continental: From The World of John Wick
This new Peacock series acts as a spin-off and prequel to the smash hit Keanu Reeves movies. Set in the 1970s, a younger Winston Scott (Colin Woodell) becomes the new manager of the hotel for a secret assassin guild. Mel Gibson plays the original manager who clashes with Winston as he learns the way of these guilds and their rules.
Expect plenty of wild action to match the films and showcase how Winston transforms into the figure played by Ian McShane. It’s set to kick off a wild new take on the saga and even those who haven’t watched the movies can enjoy it.
