Based on a True Story wrapped up it’s first season with a cliffhanger twist. The decision has now been made for the future of the series. Is it good news?

There is no doubt that we loved the fun ride that Based on a True Story was. It brought us our love for true crime podcasting, murder, and hilarious antics together in one series.

Of course, we needed more before the Season 1 finale aired. With the way things ended, there is no doubt that we want more to this show. We won’t even go into how it all worked out and left us hanging—after all, I know plenty of people who don’t watch the first season of a show until a renewal confirmation comes in.

So, what is the future of the series? Is there one, or is this series canceled? Peacock has made a decision.

Based on a True Story Season 2 is officially happening

It’s great news for fans of the Kaley Cuoco dramedy. Based on a True Story Season 2 is happening, according to Variety.

There are no details of what to expect in the second season just yet. Something to keep in mind is that while the WGA strike has come to an end, the SAG-AFTRA strike is still happening. That does mean that while the writing can start, production won’t begin for some time. It’s going to affect when we could see the second season arrive on Peacock.

With a show like this, there is a chance that we’ll get it by the end of 2024. However, this could be a 2025 plan for Peacock. It all depends on how things play out with the SAG-AFTRA strike at this point.
