When will Based on a True Story Season 2 premiere on Peacock?
Based on a True Story is coming back for a second season! But when can fans enjoy the new year of this crime comedy? Here’s what we know!
Caution: This article contains SPOILERS on Based on a True Story Season 1
Premiering in June 2023, Based on a True Story tells the tale of Ava (Kaley Cuoco) and Nathan (Chris Messina), a couple living in Los Angeles. They face challenges as Nathan is losing his job as a tennis instructor with Ava pregnant and struggling to make ends meet.
When they hire Matt (Tom Bateman), Ava senses something is off about him. She deduces that Matt is the Westside Ripper, a serial killer plaguing the city. Ava hits on the idea of getting Matt to be the star of a podcast talking of his kills, get famous, and then turn him in.
Naturally, things go awry as Matt takes over this “partnership,” and Ava and Nathan have to keep themselves out of jail. The first season ended with the pair having to cover up Matt murdering their nosy neighbor. Meanwhile, it was revealed Matt was dating Ava’s sister Tory (Liana Liberato).
That was a big cliffhanger, and thankfully, the show will be able to continue it. But when can viewers see it?
When will Based on a True Story Season 2 come out?
With a second season just ordered and the Writers Guild of America strike ended, work can begin on scripts for the series. However, until the Screen Actors Guild strike is settled, the cast can’t work on it. That can delay the show longer.
If production can begin by the end of the year, it’s likely Peacock will be aiming for a summer 2024 premiere, just like the first season. It’s also possible that while Season 1 had all eight episodes released at once, Peacock might spread them out in weekly installments to build on the show’s popularity.
At least fans of the show can be assured that Based on a True Story is coming back to continue its unique misadventures.
