With the SAG-AFTRA strike at an end, production can start on NCIS Season 21 and more soon. When could we see the show premiere on CBS?
Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has ended, we know that production can start. The writers already headed back to their rooms to get some scripts ready, so filming can start up soon. It looks like the end of November is when most shows are eying to start up production. That includes NCIS Season 21, which is set to be one of the first shows to return to filming.
This doesn’t mean we’ll get premieres in 2023, though. It’s very clear that this year is off the table. There are no set dates for a premiere just yet, but Deadline has shared what the studios are looking at right now.
Update (Nov. 13): CBS has confirmed that NCIS Season 21 will premiere on Monday, Feb. 12 at 9/8c on the network. It will stream the following day on Paramount+.
NCIS Season 21 will premiere in 2024
Right now, it looks like the plan is to bring the show back after the Super Bowl. Mid-February 2024 is looking to be a possible release for the premiere, but this will depend on a few factors, including when filming can get started.
Early March is another date that is being suggested. This is something that was mentioned just a few weeks ago when the writers strike came to an end. With filming not happening over the Christmas break as hoped for, it does mean that there may not be enough episodes ready to run mid-Feburary.
It’s also going to depend on the number of episodes in the season. Right now, this series could have anywhere between 10 and 13 episodes. If it’s 13, an earlier start makes more sense to have more time for the episodes to run into May and end at the usual time. If there are only 10 episodes, then an early March date makes more sense.
NCIS is available to stream on Paramount+.
