When will the Matlock reboot now come to CBS?

CBS has announced its new plan of attack with the strike action at an end. The Matlock reboot is one of the shows missing from the list.

The Matlock reboot was set to be part of the 2023–2024 schedule. This new series was going to take Sunday nights, but now it’s not part of the new confirmed lineup. CSI: Vegas Season 3 is taking that timeslot instead.

It’s not terrible news for Matlock, though. The series hasn’t been pushed to one side completely. Instead, it’s being pushed to another TV season.

Matlock is coming in the 2024–2025 season

CBS has opted to push the reboot of the ’80s drama to the next TV season. Instead of arriving this year, we’ll see it in the 2024–2025 season, according to TVLine. The good news is that it looks like CBS is so certain that the series is going to perform well. This does suggest that the show will arrive in fall 2024.

If CBS didn’t have a lot of hope for the new series, it would have been pushed to the spring or early summer. CBS wants to give the reboot a chance.

The new reboot stars Kathy Bates as Madeline Matlock. It is inspired by the original series and follows a woman who joins a prestigious law firm where she wins cases and exposes corruption thanks to her unassuming demeanor. Some of the best lawyers are those who are underestimated at every turn.

In the original series, the titular character would visit crime scenes and find clues that others hadn’t spotted. While he was a criminal defense attorney, he got himself involved in the cases, and now we get a chance to see that happen all over again with the criminal exposed by the end of the trial.

Matlock is set to arrive in the 2024–2025 season.
