When could Will Trent Season 2 start filming?
It’s been a longer wait than anticipated for Will Trent Season 2, but fans are hoping to see the ABC drama return soon. But when can production begin on Season 2?
One of the bigger surprise hits of 2023, Will Trent debuted with little fanfare but soon became a big ratings winner for ABC. Ramon Rodriguez played the title character, an agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation handling a variety of crimes. Trent did so while hiding the fact he was dyslexic, which aided his quirky mind in solving crimes.
Season 1 had Trent tangling with killers, dirty cops, and more while his long-time friend and on/off lover Angie (Erika Christensen) handled her own problems. The Season 1 finale was a thriller as Will had to rescue an abducted Angie while also discovering the truth behind his origins.
That was a good wrap-up, but Season 2 was delayed, like all ABC shows, by the combined WGA and SAG strikes. Thankfully, with both finally settled, the show is set to go forward, but when can it start filming?
When does filming start on Will Trent Season 2?
According to Deadline, ABC is hoping to start production on most of their shows in early December. This is because actors still get Thanksgiving off and it takes three to six weeks to prepare for an episode of any drama.
It’s why ABC has yet to release their revised winter 2024 schedule, as they’re waiting to get episodes in the can before setting things. It’s likely Will Trent Season 2 would be 10-13 episodes, the same amount as Season 1.
As of yet, no word exactly on when production begins or when Season 2 premieres, but at least fans can know Will Trent is returning soon with its unique crime feel.
Will Trent Season 2 premieres in early 2024 on ABC. Watch the first season on Hulu.
