Will Trent fans can rejoice. We now know when the sophomore season of the ABC crime drama will return in 2024. Here’s all you need to know about the Will Trent Season 2 premiere date.

It’s been a longer wait than expected for fans of Will Trent. After becoming a surprise success in early 2023, the show did earn a Season 2 renewal and seemed set for a full 22-episode season in the fall of 2023.

But then the TV world was hit by the dual blows of the WGA and SAG strikes that delayed the entire fall season. Like so many series, Will Trent was unable to move forward. While the writer’s strike was handled in September, the actor’s strike dragged on with concerns it may end the entire 2023-24 season.

Thankfully, the SAG strike is over, so production can begin quickly on all shows, including Will Trent. It appears ABC is fast-tracking production to make an early 2024 date and time for the February sweeps. Now, we finally know when Will Trent and the gang can return for Season 2.

What will Will Trent Season 2 premiere on ABC?

As part of a big wave of announcements for premiere dates, ABC confirmed that Will Trent will return on Tuesday, Feb. 20. However, there’s a big change as rather than airing at 10/9c as before, the series will now air at 8/7c. It leads into a new line-up, followed by The Rookie and The Good Doctor.

This means Will Trent will be going head-to-head with CBS’s long-established FBI. That’s a big move for the show as ABC seems to have faith it can pull in more attention in this new time slot. It also will be a lead-in for two popular series, which should help its chances.

The series stars Ramon Rodriguez in the title role of a brilliant but eccentric detective for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Hiding how he’s dyslexic, Will uses his unique viewpoint to solve various murders alongside an equally odd partner, Faith Mitchel (Iantha Richardson).

Season 2 should follow the ending of the first year as Will saved friend Angie (Erika Christensen) from a killer and discovered more about his past. With a new time slot and a date set, Season 2 only looks to be even better to continue this terrific series.
