Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is entering a record 25th season on NBC. When can Law & Order: SVU Season 25 finally get underway with filming?
Like all network shows, Law & Order: SVU has been delayed over the summer due to the long WGA and SAG strikes. With those finally settled, the series can start work on a new season with a few changes.
The big one is that in the Season 24 finale, Detective Grace Muncy (Molly Burnett) left the SVU team for a new federal assignment. That made her one of the shortest-termed detectives ever and left a hole in the squad.
There’s been no word of any replacement for Muncy, although hints that Rollins (Kelli Giddish) may have been chafing in retirement and wanting to get back to being a cop. Rollins expecting a child with husband Carisi (Peter Scanavino) does complicate that.
So, with all this in mind, when can filming start on Season 25 of SVU?

According to Deadline, NBC is pushing production on their shows, with the Wolf Entertainment series chief among them. Because of the Thanksgiving break, filming wouldn’t begin until after that holiday and early December before taking a break for Christmas.
With Law & Order: SVU, there is still a matter of a casting change for a replacement for Burnett, but so far, there is no word on who that might be. It will have to be soon if production begins quickly, as it generally takes three to six weeks to prepare for an episode of a network drama.
So right now, it appears SVU is set to start filming in late November, with NBC waiting to announce their 2024 schedule. Hopefully, there’s more word soon as fans are eager to watch this series hit a record 25th year in style.
