Magnum PI is taking an extra week off for the holidays, but be assured it is coming back. Here’s when the show returns.
Magnum PI fans were saddened by the news that Season 5 Part 2 would be the final run of episodes for the series. It looks to be another victim of the various strikes that hit Hollywood over the summer and it is unlikely another network or streamer could step in to save it.
Magnum PI Season 5, Part 2 will have the last episodes of the show. It’s been doing well since premiering in October, as NBC benefited from having the season completed before the strikes occurred, giving them some fresh content for the fall season while other shows are on hiatus.
However, the series took last week off and will be doing so this week as well. Instead, on Wednesday, Nov. 29, the network will air the 91st Annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center event, followed by the brand-new Christmas at Graceland special. Those are logical for the post-Thanksgiving season.
It should be noted NBC’s recently released 2024 schedule doesn’t include Magnum PI on it, indicating they may be running through the final episodes in January. But when does the show come back?
When will Magnum PI return with new episodes?
The show will return on Wednesday, Dec. 6, with “Consciousness of Guilt,” which is notable as it’s directed by Zach Knighton, who plays Rick. The plotline will have Gordon reaching out to Magnum for help to make sure a killer doesn’t walk free, with Jon Lovitz guest-starring as a rival PI.
That will leave just three episodes, with the possibility that NBC will air the final two episodes on Dec. 20. If that is the case, then Magnum PI will have wrapped up by the end of 2023, just before NBC starts airing its delayed 2023-24 slate.
So it’s just one more week before the first of the final four Magnum PI episodes air and give fans a final holiday treat.
Magnum PI Season 5, Part 2 returns Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 9/8c on NBC and streams the following day on Peacock.
