NBC is the first network to renew scripted shows in the 2023–2024 season. Two freshman shows have landed second seasons, making fans very happy.

While the dual strikes affected regularly programming, NBC found a way to make sure viewers got some original content. Found was pulled from the midseason schedule last TV season and brought to the fall. Meanwhile, The Irrational had enough episodes to get a short run this fall.

It was a smart move by NBC. The two shows were immediately hits for fans of the genre—and fans of some of the actors involved in the productions. There was a thought that the two would be renewed, and now NBC has offered the best news ever.

NBC renews The Irrational and Found

Both freshman shows have landed a renewal. This isn’t surprising when you look at the numbers, which are skewed due to the strike action and the lack of scripted content on all networks.

The Irrational, which airs on Mondays after The Voice, pulled in 6.3 million viewers on average with a 0.5 demo. Meanwhile, Found, which airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, pulled in an average of 5.2 million viewers with a 0.6 demo.

The Irrational is the second-most watched freshman program of all fall behind NCIS: Sydney on CBS. Found is the second-best show in the demo of all freshman shows behind The Golden Bachelor. It’s a great start for the two shows, so a renewal is not that surprising.

When will The Irrational and Found return?

The Irrational has been on a break since the start of November, but it will return on Monday, Jan. 29 with new episodes. The show was extended by one more episode earlier this month, so that was automatically a good sign for the renewal.

Found still has two more episodes to air in 2023. It will then take a short break over the Christmas and New Year break and then return with its final two episodes starting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, according to TVLine.

The Irrational and Found are on Peacock if you need to catch up.
