FBI Season 6 will premiere in February 2024 on CBS. Here’s a look at everything we know about the season so far, including the returning cast.

It’s later than initially wanted, but we know that FBI Season 6 is on its way. The show was caught up in the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike action, but now that’s all at an end. Production can start up, and it means CBS can premiere new episodes soon.

That’s leading to fans wanting to know more. Just how many episodes will there be, and who will return this season? Here’s a look at everything we know so far.

When will FBI Season 6 premiere on CBS?

CBS wanted the series to return in the fall. That wasn’t possible due to the dual strike action, but now there is an official premiere date. CBS was the first to announce returning shows in 2024.

We’ll get FBI Season 6 starting on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Yes, the series keeps its Tuesday night slot of 8 p.m. ET/PT. It’s a full night of FBI drama on CBS again.

How many episodes will Season 6 of FBI have?

While CBS hasn’t confirmed the exact episode counts just yet, it looks like this series will have 13 episodes. CBS has said that most of its shows will have between 10 and 13 episodes this season, with only CSI: Vegas and Ghosts confirmed to have 10 episodes. All the rest are expected to be on the higher end of the episode count.

Production has been able to start up quickly for this series. There will be a short winter break, but filming will then start back up again in January. With a February start, it’s easy to fit 13 episodes in the schedule to wrap up the season in May.

Who will return to FBI this season?

We’re expecting the entire main cast to return. There has been no word on any of the characters missing for the season. That means we can expect to see the following:

  • Missy Peregrym as Maggie Bell
  • Zeeko Zaki as Omar Adom “OA” Zidan
  • Jeremy Sisto as Jubal Valentine
  • Alana de la Garza as Special Agent-in-Charge (SAC) Isobel Castille
  • John Boyd as Stuart Scola
  • Katherine Renee Kane as Tiffany Wallace

What about the return of Shantel VanSanten as Nina Chase? Of course, there is a chance she may turn up now and then in Scola’s storylines, but she isn’t going to be a main part of the season. Instead, Nina is moving into the Fugitive Task Force and will be a series regular on FBI: Most Wanted Season 5.

What to expect in FBI Season 6?

Of course, the work on the season only started in the fall, and storylines haven’t been shared just yet. That doesn’t stop us from looking at what we could expect based on how the fifth season ended.

Scola became a dad at the end of the season. He and Nina will need to figure out how to make parenting work. It looks like Scola will end up being the resident parent with Nina joining the Fugitive Task Force, which will be an interesting twist. This could show us how Jubal could have handled things differently with his own son.

Speaking of that, we should see more of Jubal’s personal life. He continues to struggle with balancing work and his son, but he also broke his sobriety in the fifth season. That was never fully explored after Maggie made it clear she knew Jubal was drinking again, so it’s time to see that storyline looked at again.

Maggie also has her own demons. OA knows that she is struggling after the sarin gas attack and her near-death experience. Trauma isn’t something that just disappears, and it would be good to see how memories can be triggered in other circumstances.

Will there be more FBI crossovers?

The previous season saw some mini-crossovers here and there. We’re sure to see things happen in the FBI franchise again. After all, that’s made much easier with Nina Chase moving over to FBI: Most Wanted.

However, there are no signs that there will be a big three-part crossover. With a much shorter season for all three shows this year, it could be worth holding off a crossover event for the 2024–2025 season. While the three shows haven’t been renewed yet, with the way the ratings were last year, I don’t think a renewal isn’t going to happen!
