Will Trent Season 2 premiere date, cast, and everything we know
Just ahead of the writers strike, ABC renewed Will Trent for a second season. Now we have a premiere date and more for Will Trent Season 2.
We got some excellent news about the Karin Slaughter adaptation series back in April 2023. Will Trent Season 2 is happening. However, the series was quickly caught up in the dual strike action, which meant work couldn’t immediately start on it.
The good news is the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are at an end. Now eyes are on when our favorite shows will return, and that includes this series that focuses on an off-beat agent who uses his hidden disability as a superpower.
When does Will Trent Season 2 premiere on ABC?
The series is set to return on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Yes, it is keeping the night that it succeeded in during 2023. However, the time slot is different.
This series will kick off the night at 8 p.m. ET/PT. It puts it up against FBI on CBS, but the two types of shows do pull in a slightly different type of audience. Will Trent is slightly more quirky and fun compared to FBI. Plus, there’s no doubt that Slaughter has a loyal following.
How many episodes will be in Season 2 of Will Trent?
The first season only had 13 episodes. This wasn’t surprising considering the midseason start. In fact, it made sense to bring the season to an end in May and is common for freshman shows premiering in the midseason.
We can probably expect the same episode count for Season 2. We know the networks are mostly aiming for between 10 and 13 episodes. Will Trent won’t require too much in the way of CGI, so production can be relatively quick. This should allow for another 13-episode season.
Who will return to Will Trent?
We know Ramón Rodríguez will return as the titular character. That is a given. We’re also expecting the majority of the main cast from the first season to return. So, we expect the cast list to look like:
- Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent
- Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski
- Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell
- Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood
- Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner
Which book will the second season follow?
The first season followed the first two books of Karin Slaughter’s series about the special agent, Triptych and Fractured.
There is no word yet on whether the second season will follow the next two books. This can be hit-and-miss with these types of stories. After all, the cases of the books can be moved around. Fans just want to make sure there is continuity in the personal storylines of the various characters.
Will Trent is available to stream on Hulu.
