Magnum PI fans have an idea of just when the series will finally conclude. And Perdita Weeks is sharing her thoughts and hints on what it involves!

Magnum PI aired the final episode of 2023 with Magnum and Higgins’ investigation into a college professor supposedly having an affair only exposed a terrorist plot. It was interesting as the episode was directed by Perdita Weeks, who plays Higgins.

This leaves only two episodes left as NBC elected not to renew Magnum PI for a sixth season. It was believed the show might wrap up its run by the end of 2023. However, it’s now stated the show is taking a break until Jan. 3, 2024.

TVLine now confirms that the final two episodes will air back-to-back on that date. It should be noted NBC is kicking off the delayed fall season earlier than other networks, with new episodes of their various dramas returning the week of Jan. 15, so it makes sense that they’ll want to wrap up Magnum PI earlier.

So, with a finale date set, what could the episode involve?

Perdita Weeks drops hints for the Magnum PI finale

Speaking to TV Guide about her directorial debut, Perdita Weeks discussed the show and how, while the cast was saddened at the news there wouldn’t be a sixth season, she hopes the finale works as a series finale.

"Honestly, I just feel really proud. I’m really happy and lucky, feeling very grateful that we got to come back and tell a bit more of the story. I’m really pleased with where we end up. I’m pleased for the characters. It feels like a nice resolution. I’m content with where we will leave them. And whilst I will miss everyone very much, five years is a long time, and I think it’s good to leave the party when it’s still fun, when people still want to see you. The fan campaigns [to save the show] are really sweet.”"

When questioned if there’s a possibility Magnum and Higgins take a next step in getting engaged, Weeks simply teased “There’s a bump in the road, but all ends well. There’s a little twist coming!”

So fans may be saddened to know there’s only a few weeks left for Magnum PI’s finale but at least there’s comfort in how it should end well.

Magnum PI returns on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 9/8c on NBC and streams on Peacock the following day.
