911: Nashville got some exciting casting news. After news dropped about the casting of Chris O’Donnell as one of the main characters, we now know who his wife will be portrayed by.

The spinoff to the hit series 911 was announced in February, but so far we have not gotten information on who will be in the new series itself besides one of the leads. It was recently revealed Chris O’Donnell would be portraying Captain Don Sharpe, who was a family man in addition to working as a firefighter alongside his son, who we know is named Ryan.

It was hinted that Sharpe would have secrets he was keeping to himself, so we’re sure to learn more about who Don Sharpe is. Plus, with the father and son relationship being a main part of the story, it also calls back to the second spinoff 911: Lone Star, which ended its five-season run. That series portrayed the relationship between Captain Owen Strand and his son, TK, who would eventually become a paramedic.

Grey's Anatomy's Jessica Capshaw is joining 911: Nashville

There has been no casting announcement for Ryan, but now it was has been confirmed the role of his mother will be portrayed by Grey’s Anatomy vet Jessica Capshaw. She played the role of Dr. Arizona Robbins from season 5 until season 14, making one more appearance in season 20 of the show. No character background was given for the character, but hopefully we will find out more information about her soon.

O’Donnell also was on Grey’s Anatomy for a short time through seasons 2 and 3. He left the series before Capshaw made her debut on the series, but it is exciting to see two former stars from one show begin work for another.

Not much is known yet about Capshaw’s character for 911: Nashville, except that she'll play Don's wife and the mother of Ryan. At this time, we do know there likely won’t be a crossover with the original series in the franchise, which was just renewed for season 9. Most likely, the spinoff will air on Thursdays, so 911 can lead into the show once it begins airing during the 2025-2026 television season.

More updates on Nashville are sure to come. In the meantime, fans of 911 are eagerly anticipating the final few episodes of season 8 before the hiatus begins in May.

Make sure to stay tuned to Precinct TV for more information as we cover both series in the franchise.  You can watch 911 Thursdays on ABC.
