After dealing with Dixie’s health problems on the previous episode, it’s time for more of Don’s past to come up on 911: Nashville season 1 episode 10. It’s clear that this is a past that he’s been trying to run away from.

There’s very little we know about Don at this point, except that he is trying to avoid parts of his past. He’s from a very different life to Blythe and her family, and that did cause a few issues in the past. Dixie is part of that past, but does she even know everything that Don is trying to hide on this new episode?

A collect call causes Don to panic on 911: Nashville season 1 episode 10

In the promo for the episode, we find out that Don is getting a collect call from prison. This means it’s an inmate trying to get in touch with him, but will Don agree to accept the call or not?

This isn’t a surprise call from either of his sons after they mess up. Instead, this is something that connects deep to a past that he has been trying to run away from, and it looks like it could be linked to why he trained to be a firefighter in the first place.

There’s a moment where he’s holding a lighter and even lighting it. He’s running his hand over the top of the flame, which is something that many people do when they’re remembering an experience from the past that involved fire.

Roxie wants to help her captain. She can see that he is having a panic attack, and she wants to understand why. The only way to deal with the symptoms is to face whatever is eating away at him.

Roxie notices Don is having panic attacks, and he finally comes clean about his past resurfacing. Meanwhile, Cammie begins to face reality when she starts attending a grief counseling group.

Cammie attends a grief support group

Finally, we’ll get a little more time on Cammie outside of work. She has finally decided it’s time to face the reality of losing her husband, and that means attending a grief support group. It’s not clear how long ago her husband died, but it’s fresh enough for her. She still calls his voicemail to be able to hear his voice and “talk to” him.

However, during the city-wide attack, she connected with the FBI agent, and he shared that he runs a support group. It’s important to have people to talk with about this type of grief. Not everyone understands it, especially not at a younger age or after a traumatic event. We do know that Cammie’s husband died from choking, and that’s what led to her going into dispatch.

Could this start up a new relationship on the series? We can certainly hope!

911: Nashville airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
