We know very little about Don’s past, but it’s clear that he was in foster care and struggled with trauma. That has started to come up, and 911: Nashville season 1 episode 11 will see him face that past.
The downside is that we have to wait for the episode. Like many other shows, 911: Nashville is heading on a break for the Winter Olympics, and it won’t return until the end of February. However, we do have a promo to give us a hint of what to expect.
Don has to face his parents’ killer on 911: Nashville season 1 episode 11
During the previous episode, Don got a phone call from prison. The man who killed his parents is on parole. The man was just a boy at the time of his parents’ death, and we find out from the promo of 911: Nashville season 1 episode 11 that as a boy, this man set fire to the house, and it claimed the lives of his parents.
Don makes it clear that he views this man as his parents’ murderer. That seems to shock the guy at the parole hearing, but it’s possible that it’s some good cutting.
I do have to wonder if Don will speak about how he thinks this guy should be released on parole, and he may have a plan to take matters into his own hands. Or maybe he’s ready to move on with some sort of forgiveness. It all depends on who he’s been speaking to.

Don wants revenge for his parents’ deaths
Don is an angry man, and he has every right to be. Because of the events of the past, Don ended up in the foster system, and while there is a lot of romanticizing about it, it’s harsh and it’s scary. As soon as people age out, they’re left to fend for themselves, and it’s just not right or fair.
Don did manage to make a good career, but that doesn’t mean it was easy. As he talks to Dixie in the promo, he makes it clear that he wants revenge. He is angry about the whole thing, and he wants to see some sort of justice. Does that hint that he’s going to take matters into his own hands?
I almost feel like nobody really knows anything of Don’s past except for Dixie. Even Blythe doesn’t seem to know anything, and he married her. I get that he wanted to leave it in the past, but wouldn’t it have come up in the 20 years that they’ve been together? Something isn’t adding up with some of these characters.
911: Nashville returns with new episodes on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 9/8c on ABC.
