Things were going so well for Blue as he got to know his dad, but things are already changing. Blue now knows that both his parents have lied to him, and he’s going off the deep end in 911: Nashville season 1 episode 5.

Blue just doesn’t know how to deal with all the emotions that he has, and it looks like it’s going to lead to an emergency for the 113 to deal with. I don’t think we know Blue well enough to really understand why he would go off the deep end so quickly, and it’s a flaw in rushing this part of the story.

Blue faces his parents in 911: Nashville season 1 episode 5

The promo puts a lot of focus on Blue, who will take the firefighter’s exam. It looks like he decides to throw it, which is something Dixie is angry about. Why would he do such a thing?

That’s when the truth comes out. Blue makes it clear that he knows Dixie and Don lied to him. The pain should be toward Dixie more, considering Blue grew up with her. He has no idea that the whole reason Don didn’t get to know his son properly was due to Dixie’s actions. Sure, that’s going to hurt knowing your dad watched you from a distance, but he needs to think and get the whole story first.

Of course, Dixie is the sort of woman who will find a way to blame someone else. She’s manipulated the system the whole time, and now she’s sure to find a way to manipulate this. Blue seems to be taking a page out of her book, though, putting himself in the middle of an intersection to create a crash that could kill him.

Roxy and Taylor have their own emergency

I hope that 911: Nashville season 1 episode 5 will put the focus on two firefighters/paramedics we haven’t gotten to know yet. There’s been so much focus on the family story that we’ve not gotten to know Roxy or Taylor that well. It’s time for things to change, as they have an emergency of their own to deal with.

There’s an unconscious woman, but they don’t quite have an exact location. They’ll need to work together to find her, but that’s not all the 113 will deal with. Two abducted children are also missing, and it will take everyone working together to get to the bottom of this.

Interestingly, this is the first show in the 911 universe that hasn’t brought us a police story to the mix. I wonder if that will change here.

Check out the promo and synopsis for 911: Nashville season 1 episode 5:

With mounting pressure from his peers and family, Blue takes his firefighter exam. Meanwhile, Roxie and Taylor search for the identity of an unconscious girl and respond to a high-stakes emergency involving two abducted children.

911: Nashville airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
