The big 911 two-part event for season 8, episode 14 had fans abuzz with excitement and worry for what was going to happen to the 118. But first, what happened that led to a major cliffhanger that put the members of the team in danger?

We saw the team tackle two emergencies in this episode, with the first one leading to a warm heart-to-heart between Ravi and Buck. Ravi was feeling off about the job due to the events that occurred, but Buck encouraged him not to give up firefighting. Despite Ravi feeling awful for missing an infant in a vehicle, things did work out with Bobby rescuing her, and later, Ravi got to do something incredible in an effort to help his team.

This was a touching moment between the two, especially after Buck tried too hard to be friends with Ravi just a few episodes prior, leading Ravi to abandon him with his ex-boyfriend, Tommy. But it is clear that Buck cares about him and their scene together showed a brewing friendship between the two.

Then the next major emergency for the team is what the big two-part event has been brewing towards. They were called to a lab that was set on fire, having occurred after a woman named Moira was fired. Inside, the lab contained a lethal virus and could instantly infect anyone who came into contact.. Unfortunately, things got hairy when the team became trapped inside, all except for Buck. He was leading a woman out of the building when an explosion occurred.

Due to the explosion, Hen was knocked unconscious and had a collapsed lung. Chimney’s helmet was cracked, leading him to become exposed to the virus in the air. Known as Congo hemmoraghic fever, it was considered lethal with at least three days of incubation.

Unfortunately what Athena and Buck did not discover until almost too late was the CEO of the lab had just fired a woman named Moira after she broke protocol by making the virus’s incubation period last for 90 minutes instead of the standard three to five days.

While Bobby worked on repairing Hen’s collapsed lung while Chimney walked him through it, Maddie listened helplessly as her husband began coughing up blood. He was now deadly ill with a virus that would kill if they didn’t have an antidote.

The woman Buck saved let them know what happened and that there was an antidote. Unfortunately the army, who had arrrived in an attempt to rescue the trapped firefighters, refused to let anyone go in, telling Athena and Buck they would be honored for their sacrifice.

Instead of sitting back, Buck walked Ravi through finding the antidote that was still in the building. Unfortunately once Ravi got there, he discovered that the antidote was missing. Moira had taken the only antidote with her from the lab!

This was such an incredible episode of 911. Not only did it give us some great character moments, especially with Ravi and Buck talking him out of quitting their job, it also reminded us of the love the team had for one another. With Chimney and Hen in danger, Ravi stepped up to do what he could to save their lives. But now with the antidote missing, it will be up to Athena and Buck to save their friends and family.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Chimney and Maddie made a gender reveal cake to surprise Jee. However, things didn’t go as planned. Maybe Jee will just be happy with the baby coming!
  • Buck’s anguish at being separated from his team was gut-wrenching. Oliver Stark really gave this episode his all.
  • Chimney telling Maddie he might not be home for dinner. Anyone have any tissues?
  • Bobby Nash coming to Hen’s aid like the hero we needed.
