911 season 8, episode 4 surprisingly wrapped up some arcs, especially involving Hen and Karen, and Bobby. What happened in the episode 'No Place Like Home?'

911 has always been known to wrap up arcs pretty quickly and this episode proved no different. Between Hen and Karen struggling to bring Mara home to wondering if Bobby would ever return to work, “No Place Like Home” made quick work of making sure everyone got their happy endings.

Hen and Karen hit an unfortunate snag in their attempts to bring Mara home when it was discovered that they were still spending time with Mara and the Han family. The judge ruled they could no longer see her, which pained them deeply.

In addition, Hen also learned that Councilwoman Ortiz was friends with Gerrard, something that still surprises us given how Gerrard has treated women in the past. But Hen did go to Bobby to vent about what was happening, telling him that he was still her captain.

How did Bobby help with Hen and Karen in 911 season 8, episode 4?

In fact, Hen was not the only one to go and talk to Bobby. Buck, Eddie, and Chimney all had their own issues to vent about as well. Buck was not taking well to being under Gerrard’s wing, especially when he was told by Gerrard they needed to fire people due to budget cuts and he wanted Buck to choose. Eddie was still grappling with not being able to talk to Christopher, and Chimney just wanted Bobby back, even mentioning that Gerrard was supposed to be heading to retirement before taking the captain’s chair.

This scene paralleled another similar scene in season 2, where the team came to Bobby after he had been removed from the position as captain, through different circumstances. With the knowledge Bobby got from his team, he was able to manipulate Gerrard his own way.

Using Gerrard’s ego, Bobby had Gerrard come to his job at the Hotshots set, where Gerrard ended up showing what a fan he was of the show. Bobby told Gerrard that Ortiz was using him to hurt Hen.

Gerrard played Ortiz like a fiddle, using body cameras she had them testing against her to record her admitting that she was preventing the Wilsons from adopting Mara. This allowed not only Hen and Karen to get their daughter back, but Gerrard ended up switching jobs with Bobby.

Even though the arcs ended quicker than expected, it does show that no matter what, the 118 is a family and will show up for one another. Bobby’s place is with the 118 and hopefully we will see a happier, brighter team now that their home is back to normal.

Now would we have loved to see the aftermath of Ortiz’s attempt to break down the 118 and separate them? Sure, but we’ve already seen the team broken in various ways when they aren’t together and it’s better to see them come together in the face of adversity and show their strengths.

The next episode of 911 is supposed to be a Halloween episode and based on the promo, can we just say let the Wilson family rest? They have been through enough!

911 airs on Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c. You can catch up on the episode the following day on Hulu.
