911 returned after a brief hiatus, and it was such a treat! Filled with hot bachelors, big life decisions, and a twist involving Eddie’s story, there was so much going on. Plus, is there a new romance brewing between two unlikely characters? What also made this episode special was it was the second episode that actress Aisha Hinds has directed for 911!

911 season 9, episode 11 opened with the team discussing a bachelor charity auction. This is something that has been done before with the entire LAFD participating. However, despite Buck having done it before, he is now hesitant to sign himself up. Chimney was surprised he didn’t want to since he had so much fun doing it when he was in his 20s.

Buck is not sure about signing up for the auction

Buck claimed he didn’t want to do that because of an injury, but it was clear that he was holding back from admitting the truth. In one of my favorite scenes, Maddie came over to talk to him. He admitted that he liked being who he is now and wanted to settle down instead of just doing things for fun.

Maddie helped relate to him by talking about how she would not want to be the person she was years ago and that he could go do the auction with his new outlook on who he is as a person. Scenes between Maddie and Buck are always so fun to watch and it’s clear Maddie was able to help Buck find a way to enjoy himself.

At the auction itself, Buck did have a great time and even got high bids from a knitting circle group who he had helped earlier in the episode. One of the only calls they had involved one of the group members accidentally crashing into another one’s house. Because of how handsome Buck is, the group immediately took a liking to him and came to the auction to bid on him.

It’s a fandom joke that Buck often gets advice from old men so to see a group of women (and one man) adopt him into their knitting circle was so incredibly sweet. This was a wholesome way to end Buck’s experience with the auction, showing that he is ready to settle down while also still showing a tender side to who he is as a person.

Ravi and May having a date was not on our bingo card, but we're not mad about it!

Speaking of the auction, we also got to see who bid on Harry and Ravi. Harry got plenty of bidders, but Athena was not pleased to see a bunch of older women bidding on her son. She actually won, much to Harry’s dismay, but they still had a fun evening together later on. As for Ravi, in a weird turn of events considering how adorable and cute he is, he did not get any bidders until May herself took the first one.

May had helped organize the guys to prepare them for the auction, and she even said she was just helping to get the bidding started. But as more people kept bidding, she went even higher until she won. From the look on May’s face as she saw people actually bidding on Ravi, it seemed like she couldn’t stand to see anyone else bidding on him. We saw them on a date in a montage.

While we do not know if May and Ravi will actually become an item, this was such a sweet thing for May to do. But we wouldn’t be upset if sparks do indeed fly between them. Plus, we’d love to see Corinne Massiah growing more on the show since May has taken a backseat this season and we miss seeing what has been happening with her.

Eddie's storyline involving Abigail has a new twist

While Eddie was willing to have Maddie help him bid on himself to avoid going on a date, he actually had other things going on in this episode that were, well, alarming. When he discovered Chris never got on the bus at school, he called Buck to alert him to what happened.

Buck was ready to come over and help look for Chris when Eddie spotted the vehicle he got in at his house. Abigail had actually dropped Chris off and Chris never turned his phone off silent so he missed Eddie’s frantic calls. Upset over what happened, Eddie lashed out at Abigail to get her to leave.

Eddie felt bad for how he responded and spoke with Alex Doyle (Aimee Teegarden) about what happened. She wondered how Abigail had gotten Eddie’s personal information and even told him that she had boundary issues. It was better for Eddie to stay away.

Things only got more complicated when Eddie discovered is tire was slashed and there was writing on his truck, saying “Stay away from her.”

Eddie thought it was Abigail and her being jealous of Alex. They went to see Athena at work, who told Eddie to let her speak with Abigail herself. She also learned that Abigail had left the group home and her room had been trashed.

When Athena did talk to Abigail, the young girl did seem thoughtful but agreed to leave Chris, Eddie, and Alex alone. But then later, she called Eddie, making it sound like she was going to hurt herself. Eddie chose to go see her while also calling Athena.

But when he arrived, Abigail’s father arrived and attacked him. He thought Eddie was doing something with Abigail, despite the latter having told him nothing was going on. Eddie took a cut to the forearm before Athena rushed in to arrest him.

It turned out, Abigail’s father was stalking her despite a restraining order. He saw Abigail at Eddie’s house and made assumptions. Abigail decided to call Eddie in an effort to get her father in trouble so she could be free for once and for all.

I’m really glad Abigail wasn’t actually the one stalking Eddie, and she will now be able to move on with her life. Eddie also, hopefully, learned a valuable lesson in that he should listen when Athena tells him not to do something stupid. However, this is 911, so we are sure some crazy stunt is sure to happen with him eventually.

AISHA HINDS
9-1-1: “Handle with Care” - Harry’s first day as a probie proves to be more challenging than Chimney expects. Meanwhile, Eddie and Hen are called into court over a former patient that brings back some old demons. THURSDAY, JAN. 29 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST) on ABC. (Disney/Christopher Willard) AISHA HINDS

Another plot the show focused on was Hen deciding whether she could go back to work or not. It seems like this is a recurring theme for Hen, who has already had a similar plot in season 3. However, this time it was more about if she could still work even with the disease she now has. Even though she has been managing thanks to her diet and exercise, is she actually ready to go back to work?

Hen tells Chimney she is not sure if she is ready to come back. But Chimney is supportive and understanding of her. Her questions about her job come back later when she and her wife, Karen, are involved in an accident. Hen’s instincts take over and she manages to triage multiple victims of the accident while also taking over as a medic.

From the looks of things, it seems like Hen has realized where her passion lies and she will be going back to work. But how does this look with her disease? Will she be able to work to her full capacity? Chimney did say they could work around that, and we hope that Hen will be able to thrive back at work where she belongs.

This episode was so entertaining to watch and even if some character choices left us scratching our heads, there was still plenty to like about the episode. In the next episode, the show will have a crossover with 911: Nashville, and we’re looking forward to seeing what Buck and Eddie get up to in Nashville!

911 airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c. You can find new episodes on Hulu.
