Before 911 season 9 went on a brief hiatus before the Winter Olympics began, a shocking cliffhanger left a main character’s son in jeopardy. But is everything what it seems? What do we think Abigail wanted by taking Christopher Diaz?
There’s been a lot of discussion about why Christopher would assume that Abigail was telling him the truth about Eddie wanting her to pick him up. Sure, he met her briefly and it seemed like his dad was comfortable for her, but he is old enough to have his phone and check with his dad first. What parent wouldn’t tell their teenager who is getting them?
What is Abigail's goal in getting close to Christopher Diaz on 911?
Is Abigail really taking Chris against his will, or does she just want to try to get closer to him to get close to Eddie? Abigail has been through a lot mentally, and Eddie was the first one she saw when she was given aid when the 118 first met her. It makes sense that she wouldn’t have understood the boundaries that were supposed to be there, given how sheltered and hidden from the world she had been.
To recap 911 season 9 episode 10, Abigail was a call victim whose family had held her captive as they believed she was being possessed. The 118 came to her aid, which included paramedics Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) and Hen Wilson (Aisha Hinds). Episodes later, Abigail appeared again as both Diaz and Wilson had to testify at her parents’ trial.
Abigail approached Eddie afterward, when his testimony revealed he used to have anger issues. Eddie tried helping her, telling her about therapy and leaning on his loved ones. She revealed she had no one, aged out of the system, and was abandoned by her grandmother.
While Eddie got Abigail some help, she seemed to imprint on him. There appeared to be some hero worship and attraction on her end, while Eddie was focused on just providing her aid. It is what he does as a first responder and human being, but this would come back to bite him later. After meeting Christopher when she came to Eddie’s house, Abigail approached him again at his school as he was getting on the bus.
What do we know about 911 season 9 episode 11?
In the promo for 911 season 9 episode 11, we can see Eddie searching for his son wearing a white jacket before we see him talking to Athena about the abduction in a different one. This could mean that by then, he found Christopher safe, but Abigail is still following him around.
In this scenario, Eddie could have written off the incident at first, but then noticed Abigail would show up wherever he was. There’s even a shot of him finding a knife, possibly stuck in his tire.
Whatever happens, we hope the show will help Abigail get the support she needs without stigmatizing her experience as a victim of abuse by her parents. Unfortunately without any new episodes for a few weeks, it will be a while before we have answers.
