Get ready to see more of Agent Tyler Booth in FBI: International season 4. Jay Hayden’s character is sticking around for a while.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for FBI: International season 4, episode 7
Hayden’s character, Tyler, turned up in Budapest after he managed to flip a man’s ex-wife to lay a trap. Of course, things about the trap went sideways, but Tyler had somewhat expected that. Thanks to Wes’s help, Tyler got the credit for a case gone right, leading to him finally getting his career out of neutral.
Before he gets his next big gig, he gets a “break.” At least, that’s the way Tyler painted it, but Wes pointed out that joining the Fly Team is anything but a break. Yes, Tyler is sticking around.
Tyler will be with the Fly Team for 90 Days in FBI: International
We learned that Tyler will stick around with the Fly Team for 90 days. How much that is in the actual world of filming is unclear. Usually, the show follows our real calendar, so it should mean that we’re already a month into Tyler being with the Fly Team when the series returns in the winter.
Tyler is around while he figures out what to do next. Thanks to Wes’s help, Tyler was given the credit for the latest case. This helped to get the black mark against him from a previous op, which is sure to come up again in the future. That previous op put Tyler’s career in neutral, while Wes was able to continue on. Wes made a note that Tyler saved him once, and this was his chance to repay the man.
However, Tyler isn’t getting a break while working with the Fly Team. He needs to meet Wes halfway, and Wes is the one in charge. After all, Tyler isn’t GS-14 like Wes just yet, but there is now hope that that can happen.
Will Tyler be part of FBI: International permanently?
Could the temporary time with the Fly Team turn into something permanent? That’s hard to say, but it’s not likely. Jay Hayden was brought into the show as a recurring guest star, and nothing was said about him potentially becoming a full-time member of the cast.
Of course, this could be because FBI: International was only renewed for one season, while the flagship series FBI was renewed for three. The writers may not want to make big plans for anyone.
The show also needs to remain somewhat realistic when it comes to storytelling. The world of the FBI is fast-moving. People switch areas of the field, especially as they move up the career ladder. However, being part of the Fly Team right now will open the door for Tyler to stay if the storyline allows.
FBI: International airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
