SWAT fans who have been enjoying the new addition of Annie Ilonzeh to the show will be in for a treat! Her character is going to stick around after being introduced in season 8. It was just announced that CBS would be bringing her on as a series regular.

Fans of the show may remember that she was announced as a new recurring character during the summer. Her character, Devin Gamble, is a member of SWAT who joined from Oakland, California. She struggles to find her footing only because her dad had killed a cop and people look at her differently because of this.

Now, it looks like we will continue to see more of her as she has been bumped up from recurring to becoming a series regular for the show’s eighth season.

Ilonzeh joined cast member Niko Pepaj, who plays Alfaro, as one of the new series regulars in the show. When season seven ended, Hondo needed to create a new team after they lost two previous members, and they have become the most recent additions. We've loved getting to learn more about Devin and how she handles her work as a cop while dealing with her history involving her father.

What's next for Gamble in SWAT season 8?

So far, her dad has only been a mention on the show. She has discussed in previous episodes how it was hard to wrap her head around the father she knew with the one who shot and killed a Sheriff’s deputy a decade earlier. Plus, with how often she is given grief over being his daughter by fellow officers, she doesn’t want anything to do with him.

According to a sneak peek, however, he will appear on screen in the newest episode to be played by General Hospital and JAG actor, Rif Hutton. He appears to be trying to get in touch with his daughter, who doesn’t want to talk to him. It will be interesting to see what happens and how she handles hearing from him.

You can continue watching Ilonzeh in the newest episode of SWAT airing on Friday, Dec. 13. In the episode, the team must investigate the theft of radioactive material and stop an impending attack. Plus, there is an upcoming LAFD “smoker” boxing tournament and after another team member, Zoe Powell, notices his talent when it comes to boxing, she looks further into his past.

Friday’s episode is also set to be the winter finale and will return on Friday, Jan. 31 at a new time beginning at 10/9c instead of 8/7c.

You can continue to watch previous episodes of SWAT on Paramount+.
