CBS has brought us NCIS night on Mondays, but the shows have been on their winter breaks. Are they coming off their breaks tonight, Monday, Jan. 20?

NCIS and NCIS: Origins went on their winter breaks in December. In a way, this break hasn’t been that long. It just feels it because NBC and ABC have brought back their shows already. However, CBS isn’t ready to bring the two NCIS shows back just yet.

There are no new episodes of the NCIS shows tonight

In some bad news, we still won’t get any new episodes of the two shows tonight. They remain on their breaks until next week.

If you consider what this means on the other side of the break, it’s not a bad thing. There are only so many episodes in a season, and they need to fill nine months of programming. That usually means breaks in the schedule, and an earlier return in January would mean more weeks off in the run-up to May finales.

This break now ends up working in our favor. We get the consistency that we want and need.

What’s on CBS tonight instead?

The good news is there are reruns of the two shows tonight. These reruns start earlier than normal. NCIS will start at 8 p.m. ET/PT and then NCIS: Origins will follow in the 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot. That means there are no episodes of the two comedy shows that usually start Monday nights.

This is due to news coverage of Donald Trump’s inauguration at the end of the night. This is something CBS would have planned ahead for, which is why the return of shows has been pushed to the end of this month.

When will NCIS and NCIS: Origins return with new episodes?

The good news is that the two shows will return next Monday, Jan. 27. The wait isn’t that long anymore!

The shows will move back to their regular times. We’ll get a night that starts with comedy, and then the new episode of NCIS season 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The new episode of NCIS: Origins will close out the night at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

NCIS and NCIS: Origins are both available to stream on Paramount+.
