There are more Reagans coming to Boston Blue and that will include answers to some big questions!

Since Boston Blue began, fans have enjoyed seeing Danny Regan (Donnie Wahlberg) in his new home in Boston and working for the BPD. The premiere established that Danny was now dating former partner Baez (Marisa Ramirez) even as the long distance between them has added tension. There was also sister Erin (Bridget Moynahan) dropping in.

The show’s return on February 27 will feature Len Cariou reprising his role as Reagan patriarch Henry. That comes with confirmation that Erin will return in episode 17, airing later in the spring.

Speaking to TV Line, showrunners Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier shared some hints that Henry coming to Boston may be more than just checking in on his grandson and great-grandson Sean, who’s a cop in the city.

As Margolis explains, "There are two reasons behind his visit: one is to connect with some old friends from the Boston Police Department that he knew from back in the day, so it's an excuse for him to pop in on his great-grandson to see Sean in uniform. He does actually have an ulterior motive for coming to Boston that will be revealed in an emotional scene between he and Danny.”

Obviously, fans are worried that this may be a health crisis. Henry was diagnosed with a benign form of colon cancer on Blue Bloods and in his advanced age, the concern it could be worse is up there. Hopefully, it’s brighter, yet a big concern is that this is a way of saying goodbye to the character.

Meanwhile, Sonnier teased that Erin’s return is tied to a case in a unique way. "As with everything in this show, it is through that case that we do dredge up some family issues. There's some conflict... and there's some resolution. There are ups and downs between siblings that are all dredged up in the context of a case that brings Erin to Boston."

That’s all well and good, but there’s one pair of Blue Bloods characters fans are more than eager to get an update on!

"Cutting Losses" -- Danny contemplates retiring until Erin enlists him to help her with a case involving her ex-husband, Jack (Peter Hermann). Also, Jamie and Eddie go undercover as a couple, and Frank butts heads with the new mayor of New York City, Margaret Dutton (Lorraine Bracco), on the eighth season premiere of BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Sept. 29 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Blue Bloods ended with Jamie (Will Estes) and wife, Eddie (Vanessa Ray), revealing they were expecting their first child. That’s led to the question of whether Boston Blue takes place after the birth and whether we’ll ever find out whether they had a boy or a girl.

Sonnier and Margolis were enthusiastic with their dual reply of “Yes. Yes, we will."

That’s good news as we also know Danny’s other son Jack, is abroad working with Doctors Without Borders. That only leaves father Frank (Tom Selleck), although it’s logical he’s still NYPD Commissioner and just too busy to get to Boston.

There’s no word on whether Estes or Ray would guest-star on Boston Blue. However, there’s a chance for a cameo of the pair visiting Danny, or for Danny to return to New York for the child’s christening or another event. With Boston Blue already renewed for a second season, there’s more hope that we get to see some Reagan family reunions to continue to link the two shows.

Boston Blue returns Friday, February 27 at 10/9c on CBS.
