BritBox is the home of some excellent crime dramas, and there’s a new one that brings a different element of storytelling. Code of Silence shows that people who are often overlooked can be key to a criminal investigation.
Code of Silence follows Alison Brooks (Rose Ayling-Ellis), who is just an everyday Deaf canteen worker. She’s juggling two jobs and is trying her best to support her Deaf mom and make ends meet. Things take a turn when she’s offered a chance to prove that her skills as a lip-reader could end up breaking a case.
For sure, the role as she ends up infiltrating a dangerous criminal gang is exhilarating. Her world is turned upside down, especially as she proves that she’s been underestimated all her life. However, things don’t necessarily work out perfectly for her, as she finds herself drawn to Liam Barlow, one of the suspects. Can she figure out a way to put herself and her life first, or will she choose love?
