One great thing about CBS is that they don’t leave shows “on the bubble” as long as other networks. The 2025-26 season hadn’t even hit its halfway point before the network handed renewals for freshman shows Sheriff Country and Boston Blue, despite them only airing a handful of episodes. It already had secured new seasons of FBI and Ghosts.
The network made a huge move on Thursday, Jan. 22, renewing a whopping 10 series. Those include all three NCIS shows, Elsbeth, Matlock and others. Also on the list was the #1 TV show on all of broadcast, and we're not surprised.
CBS confirms its renewal of its #1 show
If any show looked like a shoo-in for a renewal, Tracker was it, and it's got it. Per Deadline, the season 3 premiere managed 17 million viewers after 35 days of multi-platform viewing (live watches, DVR, online streaming, etc.). TV Series Finale notes that season 3 averages 8 million viewers per episode, making it the #1 network drama of the season.
The show has a loyal fanbase that follows the adventures of Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), a freelance hunter who pursues everything from missing people to items. Colter’s journeys combine with a search into his past and the truth behind his father’s murder.
The Tracker season 4 renewal is great news for the show’s fans eager to see what season 3 has in store!

What’s coming for Tracker season 3?
One thing that no doubt helps Tracker is that, unlike other TV shows, it doesn’t have a large and sprawling cast. Besides Hartley, the only other series regular is Fiona Reese as Colter's attorney friend Reenie. The smaller cast keeps the budget low, making the show one of the more economical CBS series.
The midseason finale had a cliffhanger as Colter and his detective buddy, John Keaton (Brent Sexton) were involved in a terrible car wreck. The show’s return on Sunday, March 1, will obviously pick up on that as Colter continues to investigate a mysterious cultish criminal group.
While it’s not confirmed yet, ther’es hopes the latter half of the season will see the returns of Colter’s brother Russell (Jensen Ackles), rival hunter Billie (Hartley’s real-life wife Sofia Pernas) and Melissa Roxburgh as Colter’s sister Dory. There might also be more to the mystery of Reenie’s new intern, Mel (Cassady McClincy), and her interest in Colter, and we're sure to see more of Chris Lee as Randy.
The season 4 renewal means the writers can craft the season 3 episodes better knowing they have another year to build on. So fans can expect to keep on tracking episodes of this hit series for a while to come!
Tracker returns on Sunday, March 1, at 8/7c on CBS.
