It won’t be long before fall is here, and that means our favorite TV shows are coming back. NCIS is on the move, and this time, it will be joined by two other NCIS shows. Yes, for the first time ever, we get a full NCIS Night!
Tuesdays will start with NCIS season 23, which is reclaiming its original timeslot. Then we’ll get new episodes of NCIS: Origins season 2, followed by NCIS: Sydney season 3. You just need to know when the episodes will begin.

NCIS Tuesdays will begin in October
There is some slight bad news when it comes to the release. We have to wait until October, rather than getting the shows in September as we used to do. There is some good that comes with this delay, but it doesn’t feel it at the time.
NCIS, Origins, and Sydney will all premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 14, with NCIS kicking things off at 8 p.m. ET/PT. There is minimal need for breaks in the first part of the schedule, so we’ll likely see episodes run through into December before they go on a break.

The CBS schedule is likely to be more consistent in 2026
We’ll probably see CBS do something similar to what it did in the 2024-2025 TV season. The winter hiatus started in late December and ran through to late January. While this seemed disappointing while NBC and ABC brought their shows back at the start of the month, it worked out great for CBS shows and consistency.
When the shows return in January, there are fewer weeks to fill with new episodes. That means there are fewer breaks in the schedule, so while NBC’s Chicago PD had two weeks on and then a week or so off, NCIS was able to run relatively uninterrupted. There were the odd breaks here and there when necessary, but nothing on the level of NBC’s schedule.

How many episodes will the NCIS shows get?
There isn’t any confirmation on episode counts for the three shows just yet, but we’re probably looking at something similar to last season for NCIS, which was 20 episodes.
NCIS: Origins did only have 18 episodes, and this could be repeated. It just caused problems for the airing of episodes throughout the night, as NCIS: Origins would need to take a break while NCIS had new episodes.
This is sure to be the longest season of NCIS: Sydney since its premiere. The series was originally created for streaming but was moved to linear to help during the year that saw the writers and actors strikes. Then CBS decided to keep it as a linear show (much to the dislike of NCIS: Hawaii fans, who still deserve closure), but it still had a shorter season compared to other shows due to a midseason release. As it’s moving to the fall, it means a longer season to keep NCIS Night throughout the year.
NCIS Night begins on Tuesday, Oct. 14 on CBS.
