The 2024–2025 TV season is coming to an end. The NCIS: Origins season 1 finale has now aired, and it means we’re in for a long summer hiatus.
Sure, there is going to be a second season. NCIS: Origins was one of the nine shows renewed in bulk in February 2025, and it wasn’t all that surprising considering the NCIS franchise. However, it doesn’t mean that we get it as soon as the previous season comes to an end. We all know how TV works, right?
We’re not getting into spoilers from the NCIS: Origins season 1 finale in this post, so don’t worry about that. This is all about how long this summer hiatus is expected to be.
NCIS: Origins season 2 is sure to be part of the fall 2025 schedule
We don’t see CBS changing the placement of NCIS: Origins in the schedule. While the Upfronts won’t air until Wednesday, May 7, which is when the fall schedule is going to be released, we fully expect to see this series remaining on Mondays at 10/9c. At least for now.
Sure, the linear ratings were not like NCIS: Hawaii’s in the same time slot. However, they still held up against other networks. Until those linear ratings really drop (or CBS moves the goalposts on shows again!), then there’s no need to think that anything will change.
With that in mind, we’re looking at the summer hiatus ending sometime in September 2025 or October 2025. Usually, we would say around the third or fourth week of September, but CBS changed things up with the 2024–2025 TV season, premiering most fall shows in October.
We’ll know more when the May Upfronts happen. There’s not long left now to find out when the next part of Young Gibbs’s story will continue.
NCIS: Origins is available to stream on Paramount+ if you need to catch up.
