We’ve got word on the first-ever crossover between Fire Country and Sheriff Country and what emergency is so big it needs both of Edgewater’s top crews!

If there’s one thing CBS loves, it’s crossovers between some of its franchises. The NCIS shows have done this regularly, as have the FBI series. So it’s no shock that we’ll be getting one between Fire Country and its spinoff, Sheriff Country. Indeed, Sheriff Country was set up quite a lot in season 2 of Fire Country, which introduced Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Fire’s Sharon Leone (Diane Farr) and aunt to Bode (Max Theriot). She's also the sheriff of Edgewater, the town home to the prisoner firefighting crew.

That led to Sheriff Country, as Mickey handles the various criminal activities of Edgewater. Both Farr and Theriot have made appearances on the spinoff to show how this is all one town. That will come up majorly in the crossover event.

Per TVLine, the two-hour event will air on Friday, April 3. That’s good timing as both shows will be off in the last two weeks of March due to CBS's coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, aka March Madness. A crossover is just the event to boost both shows, with the network likely giving it a lot of promotion.

The story will begin on Sheriff Country and then carry over into Fire Country directly after, with CBS teasing the following via the official crossover synopsis:

“A mysterious school bus explosion leaves nine students missing. Sheriff Mickey Fox and Cal Fire Division Chief Sharon Leone must set aside their personal conflicts and unite their departments to try and crack the case. With the clock ticking and the fate of nine missing students on the line, firefighter Bode Leone and Deputy Nathan Boone must risk it all in order to save innocent lives.”

The fun of such crossovers is always seeing characters from the different shows interact. We’ve seen Mickey connect already with Sharon and Bode but this gives a chance for the casts of the shows to work together, such as Eve (Jules Latimer), Boone (Matt Lauria) and Wes (W. Earl Brown). There can even be fun interactions of the secondary characters.

This makes sense to have the show crossover, as sharing the same town would make it rather hard to believe the police and firefighters don’t cross paths so often. An emergency like this would have all hands on deck, as it’s hinted that there’s more to the missing students than meets the eye.

From the emergency itself to watching the continuing family drama, it looks like this crossover is going to set Friday nights ablaze for CBS viewers!

Fire Country airs Fridays at 8/7c on CBS, followed by Sheriff Country.
