With the way Chicago PD season 12 ended, it’s probably not that surprising to find out that there’s no hope of one couple getting together in Chicago PD season 13. However, things could be more dire than just a potential relationship breakdown.
Throughout Chicago PD season 12, we saw a potential relationship on the cards. It was one that we didn’t realize we wanted until it was even put on the table. ASA Chapman shared that she was interested in Sergeant Voight in a romantic way, but she understood if he wasn’t interested in her in that way. However, the more time the two spent with each other, it looked like maybe something could happen.

Voight’s actions in the Chicago PD season 12 finale have ruined the chance of romance
Voight will never apologize for what he did to handle Deputy Chief Reid, and that’s because he doesn’t think he did the wrong thing. He protected his team, and he arguably got a bad cop off the streets. The problem is that he has gone about it in the wrong way, legally, and Chapman can’t stand by that. She asked him specifically not to take a step back in the man that he was becoming.
The Chicago PD season 13 premiere will pick up one month after the finale, and showrunner Gwen Sigan makes it clear that “all hope is lost” for something romantic to happen between the two of them, according to TVLine. In fact, Chapman is completely ignoring Voight, and she’s not even showing up for the unit.
It’s possible that Chapman believes that the entire unit is in on Voight’s schemes. Or maybe she thinks that they are more willing to turn a blind eye to his actions than she is. But what I’m worried about is what this could mean as she fights with her feelings on the topic. Could she end up launching some sort of investigation into Voight’s actions?

Intelligence isn’t on the same page anymore in Chicago PD
What Chapman won’t realize is that the entire team is “scattered.” As they realize what Voight did, they all need to ask themselves if this is something that they are willing to live with.
Arguably, when Reid was killed, Intelligence knew that Voight likely had a hand in it. However, they were dealing with so many other pressures at the time that they probably didn’t stop and think about it. Now, a month later, they’ve had time to think, and as they realize that Chapman isn’t around as much, it suggests that they start to see Voight has taken a step back in becoming a better cop.
Chicago PD season 13 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 10/9c on NBC.
