When Reid sets up an initiative to tackle gang crime in Chicago, Voight turns to Chapman for some help. Take a look at the events of Chicago PD season 12, episode 15.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Chicago PD season 12, episode 15.
Since Reid came into Voight’s life, we knew that he was up to something. Voight has let is all slide for some time, but with ADA Chapman coming back into the story, he can get her to help with the takedown.
There is a bigger situation to handle. A shooting on a bus that kills the driver leads to Intelligence getting to the bottom of it. It’s another case of drugs, gangs, and Chicago violence.
Atwater and Cook pay a visit to a house in Chicago PD season 12, episode 15
After Voight catches a boy with a phone that has a video of the shooting, it’s possible to run faces through facial recognition. As they’re driving back to the station, they see a woman waving them down in the middle of the street. There’s been a shooting at a house, leading to the death of a man. At first, the other homeowner doesn’t want to talk to the cops, but Voight encourages her to.
I do love seeing this softer side of Voight. Over the last couple of years, I’ve started to warm up to him. I hated him for the longest time and then just didn’t care. Seeing him realize that the old ways aren’t the right way and there are other ways to get information has been excellent.
The be honest, the case itself isn’t all that different to other cases that we’ve seen in the past. It was yet another gang storyline. I know that Chicago has a problem, but it seems like gang violence is relied on way too much in the episodes. There are far more crimes for Intelligence to get to the bottom of, aren’t there?
The methods to get the suspects in are also the exact same. Reid suggests that enter into a buy plot.

What did the lawyer say to the suspect?
After getting a suspect, initially, Intelligence runs into roadblocks. This kid isn’t going to talk. That is until a lawyer walks in, and suddenly a deal is signed and the kid has lost all of his confidence.
What did the lawyer say? Who even sent the lawyer in? Sure, there are times that gangs and drug dealers have lawyers on speed dial, but these kids aren’t the smartest or the biggest. They didn’t know to find a competent lawyer. With the way the kid is suddenly crying and talking, it’s clear that he’s been threatened with something. The question is what.
It’s funny how Reid was on the other side of the mirror when the kid wouldn’t talk and just left. Then suddenly the lawyer walked in.
It’s going to take some time to find out. While looking into the lawyer, Voight finds out that there’s another shooting. It turns out to be the woman from earlier in the episode.

Chapman looks into Reid’s past in Chicago PD
The main focus of the episode is on figuring out what Reid is up to. Chapman learns that Reid would find out dirt on people in other locations and use them. He’d then get away with things while he used those he had dirt on as scapegoats. It’s happening all over again, and now Chapman learns that Reid has dirt on Voight.
Reid likes to show that he has power, though. As they go through the case, he shares that he can get a warrant on a suspect immediately, despite ADA Chapman saying that Intelligence doesn’t have enough evidence. Voight trusts Chapman, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t use Reid’s “influence.” He needs to get a bad guy off the streets.
Chapman is understandably annoyed at Voight working with Reid. She has seen what he can do, and she’s worried that Voight will end up being the next one of Reid’s victims. That’s probably the way it will play out, with Chapman having to find a way to get Voight out of some sort of trouble and take Reid down.
In the end, the main suspect has a chance to kill Reid. Voight could have just let it happen, but he kills the suspect. It looks like Reid will own Voight one now, but we know that isn’t going to be the case, right? Maybe if this happened after he learned about the woman being killed, he would have chosen a different path.
He does decide to confront Reid, though. As Voight puts all the pieces together, he realizes that Reid is clearing territory for a particular gang. Reid wants someone without priors in control. He views it as doing the greater good for Chicago, and he isn’t going to apologize for anything.
Is there a way to take Reid down? Well, Chapman may be able to find it. Voight tells her the whole truth about the dirty that Reid has on him, and now it’s time to see them work together. We know how Chapman feels about Voight, but will this lead to feelings from Voight as well? Is this the start of a love story?
