It’s rare that a leading male gets to remain single throughout a show’s run. Well, Sergeant Hank Voight is still to find someone to date, let alone settle down with, in Chicago PD.
There is a chance that that will change in the new season. He does have a potential love interest, but Voight doesn’t seem to have made a move just yet. This is a man with a lot of baggage, but is that baggage just work related or is there some relationship trauma thrown in?
Hank Voight has been married before in Chicago PD
We found out during the series that Voight was once married. He is a widow, with his wife, Camille, dying before the series started. In Chicago Fire season 1, when Voight was initially introduced, he had a son from that marriage, Justin. However, Justin also died during Chicago PD.
Camille and Hank met during shortly after he completed his first year of patrol duty. They were in an L-train that had stopped due to someone taking their own life on the tracks. It took just six months of dating for the two to marry, and their love could have been forever. However, she suffered from ovarian cancer, which Voight initially believed had killed her.
Voight went through a lot after Camille’s death. He learned that her doctor, Dean Reybold, actually deliberably administered too much chemotherapy, which she was undergoing for ovarian cancer. Reybold did this to numerous cancer patients during his time as a doctor.
He has never really overcome that loss, and he hasn’t dated anyone since. However, there is a chance that love could be back on the cards.
Could Voight and ADA Chapman get together in Chicago PD?
ADA Chapman recently told Voight that she was interested in him. While he didn’t take her out on a date after this, there is a chance that we could see some sparks flying between the two. Voight was understandably surprised by the confession, but he wasn’t turned off by it.
We’ll see Chapman show up later in Chicago PD season 12, and she’s sure to be a needed friend in the Deputy Chief Reid mess that’s currently going on. However, Voight tends to keep his relationships platonic in the office, but could he decide to change that?
Chicago PD will return on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
